Waking from Ash

Together, they face a changing world, an encroaching power no one believed would come, and the fierce independence of a people who have crouched too long at the edge of civilization to mind the law of their distant king.



Tepra knows nothing of magic or mysticism, but she knows elements of the forbidden as the nomads call the ancient powers. She knows that the nomads expected salvation and destruction when they gave her the title Krelaka, and she knows that she wants nothing of that title or what they expect of the one who bears it. When the nomads claim that she used these ancient powers to betray them, Tepra abandons them and tries to abandon the powers along with them.



Yet, no one power or person can keep the world from changing. Cold winds rise, and old fires burn. Ash darkens day and night alike. As Tepra runs from what she fears she could become, she finds herself lost in the ashes of her past—a past she must face before she sacrifices her future and the future of a land she may one day call home.
